Shimla, October 14

People across Himachal Pradesh are enjoying sunny and pleasant weather as a weak western disturbance has cleared, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting clear skies till October 20. The return of sunshine over the past four days has lifted temperatures across the state, bringing respite from the recent chill.

While daytime temperatures have risen, early mornings and evenings in the hill regions remain slightly cold. In the plains, strong sunshine has led to warmer conditions. According to IMD, this is the first time in eight days that both minimum and maximum temperatures have climbed above normal levels. Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a scientist at the Shimla IMD centre, said no fresh western disturbance is expected before October 20. “Clear weather will continue, leading to further rise in daytime temperatures. Mornings and evenings will remain cool in the hills, while plains may see light fog,” he said.

Kelanga in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the state’s lowest temperature at -0.7°C, while Una was the warmest at 32°C. In Shimla, temperatures ranged between 12.0°C and 21.8°C; Dharamshala recorded a minimum of 16.5°C and maximum of 28.0°C; and Manali saw 6.5°C to 21.6°C. Weather officials noted that temperatures in Mandi, Nahan and Sundernagar are still slightly below normal but are expected to rise over the coming days.
