Chd based IT firm owner held in US visa fraud racket

The owner of Chandigarh-based IT firm Infowiz, Kamaljot Kansal, has been arrested in Ludhiana for issuing a fake job certificate, marking the Punjab Police’s first arrest in a case involving fake education and work experience certificates for U.S. visa applications, according to media reports. The case, filed on September 16, followed a complaint by the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi against seven immigration agents and firm owners.

Rahul Kumar, a U.S. visa applicant, admitted during an interview at the U.S. Consulate in Chennai that he had obtained fake documents from Red Leaf Immigration in exchange for Rs 2 lakh, with an additional Rs 7 lakh to be paid upon visa approval. Investigations are ongoing, with raids underway to apprehend the other accused, the news outlet The Tribune reported.

Division 5 Station House Officer (SHO) Vijay Kumar confirmed that Kamaljot was arrested on Thursday in Ludhiana. During questioning, the accused admitted to issuing fake job certificates in collaboration with Red Leaf Immigration, the SHO added, according to the news outlet.
