New Delhi, July 25

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has banned 25 Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming platforms after they were found to be hosting and distributing what authorities described as “soft porn”, in violation of the country’s IT Rules and obscenity laws. Popular apps like ULLU, ALTT, Desiflix, and Big Shots, along with lesser-known platforms such as Boomex, MoodX, and NeonX VIP, are among those banned. The crackdown follows growing concerns over unregulated adult content being circulated as “erotic web series” without proper moderation or classification.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) took action after receiving multiple complaints and investigative reports indicating that these platforms routinely streamed sexually explicit content disguised as entertainment. Officials said the content lacked adequate age gating, warnings, or moderation mechanisms.

The full list of banned platforms includes ULLU, ALTT, Desiflix, Big Shots App, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hitprime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchul App, MoodX, NeonX VIP, Fugi, Mojflix, and Triflicks. The government has directed internet service providers and social media platforms to block access to these services with immediate effect.
