Patiala, April 7

A video from Harigarh village in the Sanour Assembly constituency of Patiala district went viral on social media on Tuesday, showing an Alto car falling from a broken bridge on the National Highway. A six-month-old baby was also inside the car and could be seen crying in the video while people were trying to rescue the family.

According to reports, the family was traveling on the Patiala-Pehowa road when their car fell through a damaged culvert bridge. Local residents rescued the family from the spot.

People in the area said the bridge has remained damaged for the last three years and has not been repaired. They said the roads on both sides have already been constructed, but the bridge still has a one-way passage, so drivers can’t see the damaged section and end up falling.

On Tuesday, Ranjodh Singh Hadana reached the spot and directed the drainage department XEN and the contractor to repair the bridge immediately.

He said that if the bridge is not repaired within 10 days, strict action will be taken.

The road is part of a National Highway, and the issue has become a major topic of discussion after the car fell from the bridge.
