The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the recent terrorist attack near Delhi’s Red Fort, where a car explosion on the evening of November 10 claimed multiple lives and injured several others.
At the start of the meeting, the Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to honour the victims of what it described as a “heinous act of terror” carried out by anti-national elements.
In a unanimously adopted resolution, the Cabinet condemned the incident as a “dastardly and cowardly act” and reiterated India’s “zero tolerance” stance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
“The Cabinet pays its solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence and conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” the resolution stated, adding that the government prays for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The Cabinet commended medical staff and emergency responders for their quick action in providing relief and treatment to victims. It also appreciated the timely coordination among security agencies, local authorities, and citizens, whose courage and composure helped prevent further damage.
The Cabinet further acknowledged expressions of solidarity from governments across the world and reaffirmed its commitment to national security and the protection of all citizens.
Directing that the investigation be pursued with “utmost urgency and professionalism,” the Cabinet said those responsible — including perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors — must be brought to justice without delay.
Officials confirmed that the situation continues to be monitored at the highest levels of the government, with security agencies maintaining heightened vigilance in the national capital.
