Gurdaspur, August 27
The Border Security Force (BSF) has continued rescue operations in flood-affected villages along Punjab’s border, safely evacuating scores of residents. In Gurdaspur district, BSF teams carried out a special operation in Makora and Chakmakoda villages, where 70 people were evacuated using inflatable boats operated by trained Water Wing personnel.
In Ferozepur’s Kaluwala village, 14 villagers were ferried across the flooded Sutlej River to safety. In another operation, BSF troops evacuated an elderly patient from Mahar Jamsher village in Fazilka district, taking him to Civil Hospital, Fazilka for treatment. The Civil authorities and residents praised the BSF for its tireless efforts to protect lives and extend support in the flood-hit areas. Punjab has witnessed heavy rainfall in recent days, with rivers in spate causing waterlogging and displacing families across low-lying border regions.
