Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and their allies will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Speaking in Chennai , Shah said, “AIADMK, BJP, and all alliance parties will fight the Vidhan Sabha elections together. At the national level, the campaign will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and at the state level, by AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami.”

“I am confident that the NDA will achieve another landslide victory, resulting in the formation of an NDA government in Tamil Nadu,” he added.

Shah emphasized there were “no pre-conditions” between the two parties, and that the BJP “would not interfere in AIADMK’s internal matters.”

Criticising the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Amit Shah accused the party of using “divisive topics such as Sanatan Dharma and the free language policy” to distract from its record in office.

” However, in the upcoming elections, the people of Tamil Nadu are expected to focus on key concerns such as the DMK government’s widespread corruption, breakdown of law and order and incidents of atrocities against Dalits and women. DMK government needs to answer the people of Tamil Nadu about the Rs 39000 crore liquor scam, sand mining scam, energy scam, transport scam, money laundering scam,” Amit Shah further said.
