New Delhi, January 8

The Government of India has unveiled its 2025 calendar with the theme “Janbhagidari se Jankalyan” (public welfare through public participation). The calendar reflects the government’s focus on transformative governance and was launched by Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at Rail Bhawan. The event was attended by Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, and other senior officials. Highlighting the progress made over the past decade, Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of participatory governance in improving the welfare of the poor, empowering women, and fostering infrastructure development. He credited citizen participation for the success of initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission and Ayushman Bharat, which have benefited millions across the country.

The calendar, designed by the Central Bureau of Communication, integrates traditional Indian wisdom with modern aspirations. It begins with the mantra  (welfare for all) and showcases sectoral achievements in agriculture, women’s empowerment, youth development, and infrastructure. Each month features a unique theme that reflects India’s journey toward progress and inclusivity.

Key themes include women’s empowerment in March and cleanliness in May with “Inner purity leads to outer cleanliness.” The July page promotes wellness through fitness with the message “Exercise is the surest recipe for wellness,” while August celebrates Independence Day with a focus on healthy lifestyles. November highlights Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to honor India’s tribal heritage, and December concludes with a focus on technological innovation under the mantra the future holds limitless possibilities.

The calendar also pays tribute to national icons, such as Sardar Patel during Unity Month, and reinforces the government’s commitment to grassroots outreach by being published in 13 Indian languages. Distributed across gram panchayats, the calendar connects remote communities to national initiatives, encouraging their active participation in nation-building. Dr. L. Murugan and other officials praised the calendar’s role in public communication, describing it as a symbol of collective strength and progress. Serving as more than a guide to dates, the calendar inspires 1.4 billion citizens to contribute to building a self-reliant and progressive India. By emphasizing participatory governance, the 2025 calendar underscores the transformative power of Janbhagidari (public participation) in driving India’s journey toward Jan Kalyan (public welfare).
