Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday flagged off seven new trains in Bihar, including three Amrit Bharat Express services, saying the expansion would transform connectivity and economic growth in the state. Vaishnaw, joined by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, said the new services would link the state more effectively with northern and southern parts of the country. Among them, the Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express is the first to connect Muzaffarpur with South India, while the Chhapra–Anand Vihar train became the sixth such service linking Bihar with Delhi.
With the latest launch, Bihar now has 26 Amrit Bharat Express services operating out of the 30 running across India. The trains, designed and built indigenously, include safety and comfort features such as fire detection systems, semi-automatic couplers, sealed gangways and talk-back units in non-AC coaches.
Speaking via video link, Vaishnaw said the new services would give “a new dimension to connectivity in Bihar” and accelerate its development. He noted that the state’s railway budget had risen from about ₹1,000 crore before 2014 to nearly ₹10,000 crore today, with projects worth around ₹1 lakh crore under way.
He added that Bihar’s railway network is now fully electrified, with nearly 1,900 km of new track laid. He said the trains represent a step towards the vision of “Viksit Bihar Se Viksit Bharat” — a developed India through a developed Bihar.
