The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region has appointed Anjali Singh as its new Chairperson for 2025-26, following the unexpected death of Sunjay Kapur, who had assumed the role earlier this year. Kapur, Chairman of Sona Comstar, was widely regarded as a visionary leader. His untimely passing has been described by colleagues as a “profound loss” for both the industry and the CII community.
Anjali Singh, who serves as Executive Chairperson of the ANAND Group, one of India’s largest auto component conglomerates, steps into the role with decades of experience in corporate governance and industrial leadership. “This is a moment of both reflection and responsibility,” Anjali Singh said in her first remarks after taking charge. “While I step into this role under extremely sad circumstances, I remain fully committed to serving both the Region and the Nation to the best of my ability.”
Her leadership will now span across seven states—Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh—as well as the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Outlining her priorities, Anjali Singh said she would focus on promoting next-generation reforms, district-level industrial competitiveness, and stronger Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) implementation. She also pledged to set up new skill centres to address emerging workforce needs and drive digital adoption, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises.
Anjali Singh chairs the Group Supervisory Board of the ANAND Group, and also leads its executive board. She holds key positions as Executive Chairperson of Gabriel India and Chairperson of Dana Anand India. Under her guidance, the Group’s clean-tech vertical, ANEVOLVE, has been focused on sustainable mobility solutions.
Within the CII, Anjali Singh has held several leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the National Coalition for the Future of Mobility, Chairperson of the Haryana State Council (2023), and Member of the International Council. She has also contributed to the CII’s work on smart manufacturing and advanced technologies. In the broader automotive sector, she serves as Chairperson of the Western Region of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and is a member of its Executive Committee.
Her appointment, CII officials say, marks not only a continuation of the organisation’s efforts toward industrial transformation and sustainable growth, but also a tribute to Sunjay Kapur’s legacy. Singh’s elevation is being viewed as a reaffirmation of CII’s long-term vision for a self-reliant and globally competitive India.
