Amitabh Bachchan took a walk down memory lane as he marked 52 years of marriage with Jaya Bachchan, sharing rare wedding photos that offered an intimate glimpse into their special day. The snapshots, which he shared on his blog, captured quiet moments between the couple as they performed rituals and exchanged conversations during their wedding ceremony. A young Amitabh wore a traditional white ensemble, while Jaya looked radiant in a red saree.
The legendary actor expressed his appreciation for the outpouring of love from fans. “To all that wish Jaya and me for the Wedding Anniversary June 3, 2025, my gratitude and love…” he wrote. Reflecting on the passage of time, he added a poignant line from his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan: “Anwarat samay ki chakki chalti jaati hai.” He concluded simply with, “Another day.”
On X, he further acknowledged the flood of anniversary wishes, saying, “I will not be able to reply to everyone individually, sorry 🙏.”
Amitabh and Jaya were married on June 3, 1973, and are parents to Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan. Shweta is married to Nikhil Nanda, and their children—Navya and Agastya Nanda—have grown up in the public eye. Abhishek, who married actor Aishwarya Rai, shares a daughter, Aaradhya, with her.
Over the decades, Amitabh and Jaya have shared not only a life together but also a celebrated on-screen legacy with films like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Mili, and Silsila.
A touching anecdote about their relationship resurfaced last year on Reddit, recalling an instance from a 1989 article by Taroon Coomar Bhaduri in The Illustrated Weekly. In it, Bhaduri shared how Amitabh once defended Jaya’s professional identity. “After their marriage, Jaya was doing a film, and when the posters appeared, her maiden name was billed. Someone, obviously trying to flatter Amitabh, said: ‘Why should this be? She should be billed as a Bachchan.’ Amit promptly retorted: ‘Of course, she is a Bachchan, but you should know that in the industry and professionally, she is more famous as Jaya Bhaduri’.”
