New Delhi, January 6

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the BHARATPOL portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in New Delhi on January 7 at Bharat Mandapam. The launch marks a significant step in enhancing India’s law enforcement capabilities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BHARATPOL portal is designed to facilitate real-time information sharing among Indian law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and expedite international police cooperation. As India’s National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL, CBI will use the platform to streamline communication with domestic and international law enforcement entities.

Currently, communication between the CBI, INTERPOL Liaison Officers (ILOs), and Unit Officers (UOs) relies on traditional methods such as letters and faxes. The new portal will modernize this process, enabling faster access to international assistance in transnational crime investigations, including cybercrime, financial crimes, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

The BHARATPOL portal will also process requests for international cooperation, such as the issuance of Red Notices and other INTERPOL notices, providing crucial support to officers handling complex criminal cases.

Shah will also present Police Medals to 35 CBI officers for distinguished service and excellence in investigation during the event, attended by senior officials from various ministries, including the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs.
