Sony Pictures Entertainment India ropes in Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and son Yug for the Hindi version of the global franchise, hitting theatres on May 30 in four languages.- this is optional, if it gets too long, can delete it.
In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Sony Pictures Entertainment India brings together powerhouse actor Ajay Devgn and his son Yug Devgan for the Hindi adaptation of Karate Kid: Legends — the latest chapter in the iconic Hollywood franchise.
For the Hindi version, Ajay Devgn lends his voice to the legendary Mr. Han, originally played by Jackie Chan, while Yug makes his voice acting debut as the film’s young protagonist Li Fong — portrayed in the original by Ben Wang. This also marks Ajay Devgn’s first-ever voiceover role in an international film.
What makes this casting even more special is the real-life bond between father and son, adding emotional depth to the film’s central theme — the relationship between a mentor and his student. Yug’s natural energy and genuine love for the Karate Kid series make him an inspired choice to bring Li Fong to life for a new generation of Indian viewers.
Set in New York City, Karate Kid: Legends follows Li Fong, a kung fu prodigy navigating a new school, unfamiliar friendships, and an inevitable showdown with a local karate champion. With guidance from his mentor Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and the legendary Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Li embarks on a powerful journey of courage, transformation, and self-belief.
By casting Ajay and Yug Devgan, the film not only bridges generations but also reinforces the themes of legacy, growth, and mentorship that define the Karate Kid universe.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release Karate Kid: Legends in cinemas on May 30, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, bringing the magic of martial arts and heartfelt storytelling to audiences across the country.
