Airbus appoints Juergen Westermeier as President for India and South Asia

Airbus has named Juergen Westermeier as its new President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, from September 1. He will succeed Rémi Maillard, who moves on to become Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.

Currently serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer, he will oversee Airbus’ operations in India and South Asia across its Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters divisions. His responsibilities will include driving aircraft sales and expanding Airbus’ regional presence in areas such as services, engineering, digital innovation, and training.

A key part of his mandate will be to further Airbus’ ‘Make in India’ initiatives by supporting programmes aligned with the government’s vision. Juergen , 53, joined Airbus in 2020 as Chief Procurement Officer, where he led procurement across all company divisions and was instrumental in strengthening supplier partnerships and standardising procurement processes. He began his career at BMW in 1998, holding key roles in Information Services, Motorcycle Purchasing, Quality Management, Supplier Network, and Cost Engineering. Juergen holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
