Recently the first trailer of the movie ‘Kalki’ was released. And the stars of the ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ revealed details of the anticipated Indian sci-fi epic at a national press lunch in Mumbai. Kalki 2898 AD is all set to hit the bid screens on June 27. Post censor screening, the first review is already out. Going by early reactions, Vyjayanthi Movies, the banner behind this tentpole release, is poised to mark their golden jubilee with a milestone.
The film is written and directed by Nag Ashwin (Mahanati) who was not present at the event but sent a video message that provided setting details.
Amitab Bachchan plays Ashwatthama, an immortal character from ancient Indian epic ‘Mahabharata’. It’s been truly a wonderful experience, to have worked in a setup where they have actually gone beyond thinking what most of us have been doing all our lives in the film industry, Bachchan said. Haasan plays the antagonist, supreme Yaskin. “I always wanted to play the bad man because the bad man gets to do all the good things in the film, when heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, where you can just go and do what you want,” Haasan said.
Prabhas’s role as Bhairava, which adds humour and charisma to the film. Heavily pregnant Deepika Padukone, who plays a pregnant character names Sumathi, joked about method acting. ‘Kalki 2898 AD” is due a worldwide theatrical release on June 27 in the Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English languages.
