Union Health Minister and BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Wednesday took stock of the extensive damage caused by cloudbursts and heavy rainfall across disaster-hit regions of Himachal Pradesh, assuring full central support for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Nadda, who began his visit from Sundernagar in Mandi district, said the central government is working in complete coordination with the Himachal Pradesh government, ensuring that “all necessary resources are reaching the affected areas in a timely and efficient manner.” He directed local officials to leave no room for negligence and to ensure that aid reaches every victim without delay.
The Union Minister visited Sainj Pangliur Baga village in the Nachan assembly constituency, where he met families affected by the recent tragedy, including Pushp Raj and Tilak Raj, who lost their parents in the calamity. He assured grieving families that the Centre would “spare no effort” in ensuring proper rehabilitation and relief.
Accompanied by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and BJP State President Rajeev Bindal, Nadda later inspected the damage in Thunag village, one of the worst-hit areas in Mandi district. He reviewed relief material distribution, interacted with local residents, and issued directives to improve coordination and delivery of essential supplies, including food, medicine, and temporary shelters.
“The administration is working at a war footing to rescue those stranded, restore communication, and maintain health services in relief camps,” Nadda said, while inspecting health facilities on site.
Highlighting the repeated vulnerability of Himachal Pradesh to natural calamities, Nadda stressed the need for a united response from both government and civil society. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is committed to delivering all possible assistance and helping Himachal rise from this crisis,” he added.
He also assured that damaged roads and disrupted communication networks would be restored swiftly in the aftermath of relief operations, with an emphasis on long-term preparedness and resilience.
Jairam Thakur, the former chief minister, lauded Nadda’s swift response and presence on the ground, saying, “Whenever a disaster has hit Himachal Pradesh, Nadda has always reached out to the people and ensured central support flows without delay.”
