Chandigarh, April 5
In a renewed push to bring transparency and efficiency to public services, Punjab’s Good Governance and Information Technology Minister Aman Arora has instructed officials to onboard all local representatives—sarpanches, nambardars, and municipal councillors—onto the state’s e-governance platform by the end of April. Chairing a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS), Arora said that 43,321 local officials would be digitally integrated to verify public applications and certificates online, reducing the need for citizens to seek in-person approvals.
According to Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Pratap, over 41,000 login IDs have already been generated, accounting for about 95% of the targeted group. “The process is nearly complete, and full onboarding will be done by month-end,” he said.
In a bid to enhance access to state services, Arora also announced a sharp reduction in the doorstep delivery fee for government services—from ₹120 to ₹50. Residents can now avail themselves of 406 services by dialling helpline 1076. The move, he said, aligns with the Punjab government’s goal of making citizen-centric services financially accessible to all.
“The government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to improving ease of living through digital reforms,” Arora added, highlighting the state’s efforts to deliver services transparently.
The meeting also reviewed key digital governance initiatives such as eSewa, the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), the RTI portal, mSewa, the State Admission Portal, the Connect portal, and the Visitor Pass Management System.
Senior officials including Special Secretary Health Ghanshyam Thori, Director Good Governance Girish Dayalan, and CEO of the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company, Deepti Uppal, were among those present.
