The Punjab government has ramped up its anti-corruption efforts, instructing Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and Station House Officers (SHOs) to root out corruption in their jurisdictions or face disciplinary action.

A government spokesperson reaffirmed Punjab’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service delivery. Corruption, which erodes public trust and hampers institutional efficiency, must be tackled with urgency, the government said. To achieve a corruption-free and citizen-friendly administration, officials have been urged to take strict and effective measures.

The directive underscores that every officer is responsible for ensuring that citizens do not face undue harassment or financial demands when dealing with government agencies. The Punjab government has also emphasized that public interactions with officials should be seamless and that administrative processes should be efficient, prompt, and courteous.

To bolster accountability, the government announced a feedback mechanism involving input from the general public, MPs, and MLAs regarding the performance of field officers, including DCs, SSPs, SDMs, tehsildars, naib tehsildars, SPs, DSPs, and SHOs. Based on this feedback, officials may be rewarded or held accountable for their conduct.

The government has urged officers to redouble their efforts in ensuring honest, responsive, and effective governance across the state.
