In a bid to bridge the education gap between government and private school students, the Punjab government has launched a residential summer coaching camp in Mohali to prepare students for India’s top-tier competitive exams — JEE and NEET. Announced by School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, the Residential Summer Coaching Camp-2025 is part of the state’s flagship School of Eminence initiative. The programme is aimed at high-achieving students from Class 12 in government schools, selected through a competitive process.

“This camp isn’t just about academics. It’s about equity, empowerment and transforming the futures of young people,” said Bains. “We want every student, regardless of background, to be able to compete on merit,” he added.

The 23-day camp will host 600 students — 500 preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and 100 for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The launch follows a year of notable success for the programme: 265 students cleared JEE (Mains) and 44 cracked the highly competitive JEE (Advanced) in 2024.

The camp offers expert academic coaching tailored to competitive exam requirements, but also addresses emotional well-being and personal development. Along with subject-specific sessions and test preparation, students will take part in team-building activities, stress management workshops and career counselling. Daily doubt-clearing sessions and a focus on foundational concepts and problem-solving techniques ensure that learning is both rigorous and supportive.

The residential setting is designed to be inclusive and nurturing, with full-time supervision, nutritious meals, and structured routines. “This is about more than coaching. It’s about transforming the system so that talent — not privilege — shapes opportunity,” Bains said. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision of accessible and high-quality education, aimed at transforming Punjab’s government school system into a merit-driven, opportunity-rich environment.
