Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded Chhattisgarh’s achievements in tackling Naxalism, citing the neutralization of 287 Naxalites, arrests of nearly 1,000, and the surrender of 837 individuals within a year. Shah called it an unprecedented success, reflecting the government’s commitment to restoring peace in the region.

Speaking at an event, Shah commended the state government for creating a memorial to honor the 1,399 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Naxalism. He expressed hope that the memorial would inspire future generations while paying tribute to the fallen. Shah emphasized the adoption of a three-pronged approach to eliminate Naxalism. The strategy includes welcoming individuals willing to renounce violence, intensifying efforts to capture those continuing violence, and taking strict action against offenders.

The Union Minister highlighted that the last year saw the largest area freed from Naxal influence in a single year. He credited the Chhattisgarh police and the coordinated efforts of security forces for their success, describing the campaign as focused and strategic. Shah assured that by March 31, 2026, no further bloodshed in the name of Naxalism would occur in the region.

Shah also outlined the government’s development plan for Naxal-affected areas, emphasizing welfare for villages and rehabilitation of affected communities. He announced the construction of 15,000 houses in these regions, along with full implementation of welfare schemes to ensure priority support for families impacted by Naxal violence.

The Home Minister highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the campaign for a Naxal-free India. He assured that ministries of Home, Tribal Affairs, and Rural Development were working in unison to rehabilitate families and uplift communities.
