The Ministry of External Affairs informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that Indian passport holders can enjoy visa-free entry in 26 countries and visa-on-arrival facilities in 40 countries. The details are regularly updated on the Ministry’s website. The Ministry highlighted that India offers visa-free entry to citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives. For Maldivian citizens, visa-free entry is applicable for tourism, medical, or business purposes, provided their stay does not exceed 90 days within six months.
Addressing queries about global passport rankings, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh submitted information in Rajya Sabha that while private entities rank passports based on various parameters, there is no universally accepted standard for such rankings due to the absence of globally agreed criteria. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to enhancing travel facilitation for Indian citizens through ongoing diplomatic engagements.
