One person was killed and 25 others were injured after a bus carrying devotees overturned in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district late on Tuesday, police said. The accident took place around 10 pm in the Bangana area when the bus was travelling to Shah Talai in Bilaspur district after the passengers had visited Peer Nigah in Amb.
Police said the bus was carrying devotees from Jalandhar in Punjab. One devotee from Phagwara died at the scene, although authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased. A total of 25 passengers suffered injuries in the crash, including one person who sustained a broken leg.
Local administration officials and police teams rushed to the site and launched rescue and relief operations soon after the accident.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Thakur said some of the injured were admitted to a hospital in Thanakalan, while others were shifted to the regional hospital in Una. Police said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
