Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹12,000 crore, with a focus on railways, roads, fisheries, energy, and the digital economy. At Motihari in Bihar, Modi will address a public meeting and dedicate projects worth ₹7,200 crore. These include new railway lines, automatic signalling systems, and upgrades to traction systems aimed at improving operational efficiency and expanding capacity across key North Bihar routes. Among the key announcements are the doubling of the Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj line and development of infrastructure for Vande Bharat train maintenance at Patliputra.
Road infrastructure is also a central focus, with the PM inaugurating a four-lane stretch of the NH-319 between Parariya and Mohania and laying the foundation for the Ara Bypass project, designed to reduce travel times and boost freight movement. In the technology sector, Modi will inaugurate Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facilities in Darbhanga and Patna, targeting the startup ecosystem and export of IT services from Bihar.
He will also flag off four new Amrit Bharat trains, enhancing regional rail connectivity with Delhi and Lucknow. To support rural livelihoods, Modi will release ₹400 crore to over 61,000 Self-Help Groups and distribute housing aid to thousands of rural families under PMAY-Gramin.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will visit Durgapur in West Bengal to unveil projects worth over ₹5,000 crore. Key initiatives include the Durgapur-Kolkata section of the PM Urja Ganga natural gas pipeline, a ₹1,950 crore City Gas Distribution network in Bankura and Purulia, and pollution control upgrades at thermal power plants in Durgapur and Raghunathpur.
Modi will also dedicate the doubled Purulia–Kotshila rail line and inaugurate two road overbridges under the Setu Bharatam scheme. The projects aim to spur industrial growth, improve transport safety, and bolster the region’s energy infrastructure while addressing environmental concerns.
