Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team will hold an air show at Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district on March 25 and 26, officials said on Thursday.
Chaugan Ground and Sainik School in Sujanpur Tira were selected venues for the show, they said.
Group Captain Rachna Joshi, principal of Sujanpur Tira Sainik School, confirmed the report.
He said the Surya Kiran team, also known as “Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force,” is renowned worldwide for its unparalleled precision, outstanding skill and excellent teamwork.
“This elite team will perform a series of thrilling aerobatic feats, flying in striking red and white Hawk Mk-132 jets. Their performances will include breathtaking loops, thrilling barrel rolls, gravity-defying inverted flying, and the highly popular DNA manoeuvre. Each performance will showcase the pilots’ exceptional skill, discipline, and excellent coordination,” he said.
Joshi further said, “The team will thrill spectators with its spectacular nine-aircraft aerial display in Sujanpur Tira. It will also present a spectacular nine-aircraft aerial display over the iconic Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh on March 27 and 28.”
Established in 1996, Surya Kiran is the only nine-aircraft aerobatic team in Asia and is considered one of the world’s finest aerobatic teams.
So far, it has performed over 800 aerobatic performances across various Indian cities and has showcased the Indian Air Force’s professional excellence at international air shows held in countries such as China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
